Product Description

RIAA Gold Album Award for Indigo Girls album Rites Of Passage. Released on May 4, 1992, the album was certified Gold by the RIAA for 500,000 copies sold on Aug. 20, 1992.

With members of Siouxsie and the Banshees and Gang of Four as guest players, the album produced the hit "Galileo", which went to #14 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. It also included a cover of Dire Straits track "Romeo and Juliet". The album peaked at #21 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. By 1994 the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA for one million copies sold.*

Detailed Item Description: This is a RIAA Gold album award that would have been manufactured in 1992, making it approx. 33 years old. It is presented to The Hit Factory® London, the facility in London where parts of the album were recorded and Ed Germano, owner of the Hit Factory.

This award is in VG condition with only minor mars on the frame and plexiglass. The award is all original although the manufacturer sticker has fallen off. The details indicate the award was made by Ill Eagle Enterprises. The numbered sticker on the back of the award is an inventory number from the recording studio.

Notes on the condition of all vintage RIAA awards: Please do not buy this item if you want a brand new piece of memorabilia. These are historical artifacts from the year they were produced.
