Artist signed artist's proof lithograph of album art for Anthrax's 1995 album Stomp 442. Famed Hipgnosis co-founder and artist Storm Thorgerson (1944-2013) created this album cover for the hard rock band, and it became somewhat controversial when retailer Wal-Mart refused to carry it in their stores due to the one would think relatively harmless rear view of a naked man in the photo. To create the piece Thorgerson had a ball of scrap metal created and hung it from a crane.
This is an offset lithograph artist's proof, number VII of XII (#7 of 13) on paper signed by the Thorgerson. It measures 26-3/4" x 32-7/8" (68 x 83.5 cm). The founder of legendary album art designer Hipgnosis, the collaborative of artists not only created this album cover, but also those for Led Zeppelin I, Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here, Paul McCartney Venus and Mars and many other famous covers.
